A couple of questions that led to a partnership and a Web App

How spending time in a business shows you where tech can solve problems and improve the process.

In Mexico, many businesses aren’t used to tech solutions. Often there isn’t even an idea of how a bit of technology could improve the way things run.

A friend recommended a carwash, Supercarwash. Home service is convenient, but sometimes I like getting out and making the carwash a small adventure. I parked, the service started, and the owner offered me a drink and a friendly conversation.

While I waited, I watched the process. The owner was interrupted more than five times. He was the only one collecting payments: cash, credit, debit. Every payment meant stopping whatever he was doing.

I went home and kept thinking about it.

The service was good, so I went back. This time the owner asked what I did for a living. We talked about apps and programming, and I shared my idea:

A simple web app, a QR code, and a checkout using Mercado Pago, a payment system people in Mexico already use every day.

He said yes without hesitation. We left the business details for later.

So I arrived home and in my spare time I built it: a simple web app with payments and a basic but useful admin panel. The customer scans, pays, and the owner keeps working.

The first customers are already paying through the app: 20 payments in October alone, each one without interrupting the owner. The new challenge is adoption: getting more people used to scanning and paying.

The reactions so far:

“Wow, fancy!”, “What a nice idea,” and my favorite, “Can I implement it in my business?”

Simple ideas and a bit of tech can turn into real improvements. You don’t need a big system, just a clear problem and the willingness to try (this is a most).

If you run a business and think something like this could help, let’s talk.
